American Bridge Ad: Romney’s Ugly Coronation

The ad links Romney to Republican guru Karl Rove, presumably in an effort to dissuade political independents who were turned off by the George W. Bush’s presidency and Rove’s role in it.

“The Republican establishment’s king maker is lining up for Romney,” says the ad. “If he’s Karl Rove’s kind of candidate, do you really want him to be yours?”

It features attacks on Romney by Republican opponents past (Rudy Giuliani) and present (Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich) over the usual topics: Taxes, gay rights, flip-flopping, and his work with the Bain Capital investment firm.

The video then shows Rove defending Romney from criticism over some of the front-runner’s statements, such as “corporations are people” and “I like being able to fire people.”
