Chris Wallace Talks To Reince Priebus and Debbie Wasserman Schultz For General Election Preview – January 08, 2012

The chairs of the Republican and Democratic parties joined “Fox News Sunday” to discuss the unemployment rate dropping to 8.5%, the current Republican presidential field, and preview the general election that lies ahead.

Much was made of this week’s good economic news. Democrats cheered, but RNC Chairman Reince Priebus tamped down the development by explaining that the economy is still in real trouble. He said the current rate is “unacceptable” and that President Obama’s policies are to blame.

Democratic National Chair, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, also joined the program and defended the president by pointing out that he has received no help from Congressional Republicans, yet the economy continues to improve.

For the past few months, the Democratic National Committee has run negative ads against current presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Many have seen this as a preemptive attack against the candidate the DNC believes will be the eventual Republican nominee.

Wasserman Schultz defended their decision to go after Romney by saying, “He invites and deserves that scrutiny because he has been distorting and mischaracterizing the president’s record.”
The Congresswoman added, “Why the scrutiny? Mitt Romney has no conviction.”
